Hot, New Technologies: I Can't Wait for NPE2009

At SPI we have been planning for NPE2009 over the past two and a half years.  Countless hours have been spent by a dedicated group of members and staff to make sure that NPE2009 is the best NPE ever.  As part of the SPI Science and Technology staff,  I am most excited about the activities and events that tie into the hottest and newest technologies.

My first stop definitely will be the new West Hall (aka “Technology Central”) at McCormick Place.  I plan to drop by the Emerging Technologies Pavilion to check out the latest bioplastics, nanotechnology, energy efficiency and sustainability related technologies.  Then I’m off to the New Technology Pavilion to meet with exhibitors and see the latest research and developments in all areas of the plastics industry: equipment, materials, tooling, process technology and more.  Then I plan to visit the International Plastics Design Competition which will showcase designers, processors, moldmakers, material suppliers, OEMs, and other parties involved in the development of innovative products.  In between these activities, I also want to check out the Technology Theater to see some videos, PowerPoints and public speaker presentations about technologies impacting the industry.

When my feet start to get tired I’m heading off to grab a seat and to listen to speakers at the NPE Educational Conference.  The conference, which includes a number of co-located educational programs such SPI's own “Business of Plastics” conference and ANTEC, will include over 1,000 presentations covering both technical and business related topics pertaining to the plastics industry.  If you haven’t looked at the list of speakers and topics then you need to check it out.  The range of what you can learn about is extensive (and a bit mind boggling as well).

With the exposition, educational offerings and special events at NPE, this event is the place to be June 22-26.  So bring your walking shoes and get ready for the best show ever.  I look forward to seeing you in Chicago.
