NPE2012 Weekend Update: Chocolastics, 6 Million Pounds of Machinery

SPI’s Senior VP of Trade Shows Gene Sanders (ExpoGene) is updating and entertaining us during setup of the NPE2012 show at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

It’s Sunday, a week before NPE2012 opens, and the sun has made an appearance. It was looking a little bleak this morning, but the clouds have gone away and we are left with a beautiful afternoon for moving in our show — although I’d rather be at the beach like some of the exhibitors I’ve talked to who are ahead of schedule. As you can tell from the photos below, the halls are filling up, and the process really is ahead of schedule.

Very impresive with fast order process and delivery. Generic viagra no rx usa! Each of these medications are Indian FDA approved and are internationally certified, so you know our products are safe.

The morning started with a building crumbling to dust at 7:00 am. No, not at the OCCC: It was the controlled demolition of the old Amway Arena, where the Orlando Magic NBA team used to play. (I guess that’s one pyramid that wasn’t permanent, nor could it house a winning team.). Its new name is the Kablamway Center.

Now that “Mary K” has left the building, they are marking the F hall so we can use it for NPE. I must say, however, that listening to them jamming in their hall was akin to attending a religious revival (The New Order of the First Church of Eye Liner … halleluiah!).

Back on the NPE front, over 6 million pounds of equipment has moved in so far, and we have a lot more to come.

I’ve been producing shows for 30 years, and I don’t have the chance to witness too many firsts anymore. So I was quite surprised today when an exhibitor made a request to turn on the air conditioning in the hall next week, days before we are allowed. The reason? He wants to calibrate his machine with M&Ms, and is afraid they will melt if it’s too hot.

You heard it here first … M&Ms! I guess Mars (no Paco, not the planet, you don’t need a brighter booth) is going to start making packaging out of chocolate, or possibly we are about to witness a new coating technology. Maybe the display will have attendees lined up around the booth — like the family table at Benihana’s — to catch the delicious morsels in their mouths as they shoot out of the machine.

Tomorrow is going to be an extremely busy and difficult day (yes, the staff starts to arrive), and there will be a lot to report. So stay tuned, as I am
